Not Everyone Thrilled

The slot machines were prohibited 40 years ago in the state of Maryland and many people liked such situation. The slot machines appeared in the state for the first time in 1937 in order to give more to the people at the time of the end of the Great Depression. They became illegal since the 30 of April in 1939, but very soon in 1943 Anne Arundel County made them legal again, after it three other counties made the same. By 1949 the only state in the continental part of the USA (outside of Nevada) where you could find slot machines was southern Maryland.

Then the story repeated and in 1960s the slot machines were tried to make illegal, in 1968 Governor Tawes started the process of removing slots from the state (except of the cases of fraternal organizations), but in 1984 they were completely prohibited. However in 1986 they were legalized again in some counties on the Eastern Shore.

Though one county decided not to take part in that process and nowadays the situation hasn't been changed, but in the rest of the state all the gambles have been completely legal and have been spread widely. Worcester County claims that they can't find any reason why their slot machines are illegal while the other counties don't have such restrictions, so there is no any cause to prohibit gambling.

Now the population of the state can be divided into a group of residents who likes the idea of legal gambling and those people who prefers not to change the situation. This last part of the population of the county is sure that legalization will not bring any positive moments and says that people who wish to return slot machines to the state just don't remember how it has been. The other counties can legalize slots, but they don't want to have legal gambling in their backyard. They offer to the people living in Worcester County go to the other counties and visit the casinos in a case they like gambling.
